    Britta, Dan and Drs Serog,
I am so shocked and saddened with the news of Sanna. I always had such a great deal of respect for her and your family.
I have had a swarm of memories come flooding back from childhood. I have thought of contacting Sanna so many times and never followed through with my intentions. I am so sorry for that. I am so sorry for your loss. It is a loss for all of us.

That rocking horse is probably not up to the modern safety standards. I remember we got our hair stuck in the springs a lot, somehow.

I’ve known Britta since we were in 2nd grade together, almost back to that 1966 photo. Sanna was three years older, an eternity at that age, but she was generous with her time and always treated me like an equal. My own sisters were much older and off at college by the time I was 12, so Sanna took on the role of older sister — the kind senior who took care of us freshman — showing us the ropes, taking us shopping, providing a safe haven in the frightening high school cafeteria.

I didn’t get to see Sanna as much as adults as I would have liked because I’ve been in California for the last 25 years, but I did appreciate any time we had together. She was always full of creative ideas. My husband Andy and I especially enjoyed spending a couple of days with Sanna, Mike, Dhiki, and Chenga in the Florida Keys several years ago. We felt lucky to be part of her birthday celebration that year!

My heart goes out to Mike, Dhiki, Chenga, Dr. and Dr. Serog, Britta, Dan, and everyone gathered in Ithaca today. We’ll be there in spirit. I’m grateful to Sanna, I loved her, and I miss her.

Wow – we were totally blown away by Sanna’s childhood photos. She was a beautiful child, a beautiful woman and she will never be forgotten. Keeping you all (her family) in our prayers, because this is great loss – for all of us, but especially for YOU. Love, CD, Nando & Laxmi
